Two rules had to be respected so that the live action of One Piece could be released. The showrunner, Matt Owens, reveals them.
Two very important elements of the One Piece By Netflix universe will be respected in the live-action :
It was the showrunner, Matt Owens, who revealed the rules dictated by Eiichiro Oda, the author of the work. New information about the Netflix series by production studio Shueisha, the first is to keep the stories. The reason ? Because the latter are “crucial to knowing who (the characters, editor’s note) they are as a person, what their dreams and their motivations are”. The second thing has to do with powers. Matt Owens admits:
The specific Devil Fruit powers and other skill sets were all carefully crafted by Oda, and a lot of imagination went into figuring out what different people can do and what the rules are around it.

An author close to adaptation :
One Piece By Netflix series is an adaptation of Eiichiro Oda‘s manga of the same name. The announcement of this TV show generated a lot of reactions from the fans. It is indeed a monument of Japanese comics and therefore a lot of concern about this project has been felt by readers. To reassure them, the mangaka has, on several occasions, given news on how he is involved in live-action. He had notably demanded to return many scenes: “Even after the end of the shooting, there were many scenes that the production agreed to shoot again because I felt that they were not good enough to be broadcast around the world” he had expressed in a message published on Netflix.
Conclusion :
As a reminder, the first season of the live action, One Piece, will contain eight episodes and will cover the events up to the arc of Arlong. Many characters have been revealed in the two trailers, including the main Mugiwara: Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Sanji (Taz Skylar) or even Usopp (Jacob Gibson).
